91' 285 Four Winns Twin 5.0 Cobras
Late getting in this year, backed trailer floated boat and both engines overheated.
Winterized by disconnecting all hoses to thermostat housing, draining blocks and exhaust manifolds and pouring in antifreeze in all the hoses.
Early spring inspected water pump impellers, removed thermostats and tested in boiling water and reinstalled.
Started engines and check water out flow, water gushing out from props. watched temp gauges slow rising to 210 ish and shut down. No leaks under or around engine.
I'm new to these engines and o/d's but to me this would normally point to stuck thermostats, but both unless I installed them incorrectly. You plop them in and install the o'ring.
Does this set up require some sort of priming or do they just fire up like any other engine after layup?
Any suggestions or help what to check next would be appreciated.
