nah.....The new impeller has been ordered since its cheap insurance i rather just knock it out. Then while there, review all hoses and hose clamps. Who knows, i might get lucky with it and ends up beign a loose hose.

the typical locations for air ingress on a generic volvo installation are the casting on the drive, the seals on the raw water pump, the cover on the raw water pump, the swivel seals on the drive.
a clear hose between the raw water pump and the rest of the down stream engine is vital for troubleshooting. if you see bubbles, you have an air leak.
to get more specific on other possible ideas of overheat, we need to know which cooling system etc. is on your boat.
have you back-flushed the power steering cooler for debris as this cooler is usually plumbed between the pickup and the raw water pump
overheating is simply a lack of raw water flow and going thru the system to check what may be causing low flow.
Engine is raw water cooled. I backflushed from water pump incoming water hose. I opened the cleanout on the outdrive and nothing came out prior to this event. Engine 5.7 dp-smnah.....

Last i checked upon install it was in good condition. I ordered one just to have peace of mind.Have you checked the water inlet on the drive, item #9 in post #7? If that's cracked that can lead to your symptoms.
