I've posted this many times over the years but here goes, there is NO need to pull the stat to pour AF in the engine. You just disconnect the big hose at the stat housing, put a funnel in it, and fill it till AF spurts out of the neck of the stat housing. Then fill your manifolds via the feed hoses. I also disconnect the raw water intake hose at the stat housing (Alpha & Cobra) hold it down to drain it, then hold it up and fill with AF till it comes out the water intakes of the outdrive Re-connect hoses and done. If you have a Volvo or a Bravo, you can disconnect it at the impeller housing & do the same thing, then re-connect. With those I'd also disconnect the hose from the impeller housing to the stat housing at the stat housing and fill that with AF, then re-connect.
I also coat all the hose nipples with some marine grease (Evinrude triple guard) that keeps the hoses from getting rusted on the nipples, and makes your life easier. Also coat threads of metal drain plugs with that, or gasket sealer, same reason.

FWIW I drain the block and manifolds and pour AF in each of the hoses up at the thermostat housing until it drains out the removed plugs. Then install the two block plugs and leave the exhaust manifold plugs off. Then fill the block and intake with AF thru the large circulating pump hose Disconnected at the top inlet Until AF flows from the port the large circ hose came off. This way I know the engine is full right up to the thermostat and the exhaust is entirely empty. I also put a 1/8” hole in the thermostat flange to allow air to purge, which not many people here agree with, but it works for me. This pic is of my setup
