Re: Over heating

I slide them on the shaft 1st, and then lower the top housing down while turning the shaft, a little lube will help it slide down on the impeller. Make sure you turn the shaft in the correct direction. Also there is a key on the shaft that locks the impeller in place on the shaft, make sure that is there too.

I am pretty sure it is clock wise that you would want to turn the shaft as you lower the top of the pump housing down on the impeller. When the motor is cranked it should be the same direction the flywheel turns.

Re: Over heating

Clockwise is correct. Do you run that motor is saltwater? If so, check the water intake holes on the outdrive for barnacles. Pull the waterpump base and the water intake covers and clean them out. If it still overheats check the thermostats. The circulating pump belt is OK? Last resort is to check the risers and manifolds. If they are clogged the motor will overheat. When was the last time they were changed? If the boat wa used in saltwater at any time in it's life, it may be time...
