Outdrive trim

I live in Northeast and boat is stored on trailer in yard. I went out to roll the trailer a little ways and realized my outdrive was trimmed so as the skeg was stuck in the ground. I freed it up and hooked up the battery but the drive wont trim up. Sounds like it will but absolutely no movement. Could there be frozen water in the lines? I am tenting it now and heating but dont know if I'm doing more harm than good trying to exercise it? Should I just wait until Spring?

Thanks.

It would sure help if you posted some engine and drive information, like year, or better yet Engines full model number or serial number. At this point, it's hard go say which trim system you have.

Sounds like it will but absolutely no movement.

Does that mean the pump motor is running but the trim isn't coming up?

If all else fails, you can always disconnect the trim rams from the back of the drive and lift the drive by hand and block it up or tie it up to move the boat.

Yes, It sounds as if the motor is running but the trim isn't moving at all. It is a 2001 5.0 Gi\SX Engine serial number 4012030014
Thank You

Re: Outdrive trim

First, you have a 2000 engine model, not a 2001. Not uncommon with boats. The full model number is 5.0GIPEFS and the engine is painted gray.

Look in the trim pump reservoir, is the oil milky? That would indicate water in the oil.

Yup, looked like a pink milk shake. Used a straw and was able to pull some chunks out. Looks like I'll be learning how to change trim fluid in the Spring :)

Thanks
