I am new to iboats so hello everyone.
I would like to have everyone's opinion.
I am having problems with my factory installed depth finder. I understand that a lot of people have had trouble with them in Cobalts.
Should I try and go through the trouble of having it repaired or should I have an aftermarket depth/fishfinder or even a low end gps installed?
Thanks in advance for you opinions.

First off welcome to the gang.

Now about your depth finder....... Need a little more information. Is it a in dash, or console mount? Is it really only a depth finder, or are we talking about a factory installed fish finder?

What is it doing that you think it needs repaired?

Re: Newbie: Need opinions on depth finder

Thanks Bill.

It is in-dash, factory installed. It is only for depth, no fish finder.
Saturday it displayed 1.7ft all day long. It didn't matter if I was moving or sitting still.
Sunday it displayed 5.1ft most of the day and the other time it displayed 52ft in about 14 ft of water. thanks again.

Install a Lowrance or Eagle SONAR.
