Outdrive problems

I have a 1977 Cobalt boat with OMC175!
Boat runs good, but shift is not engaging in gear! With controller in forward, neutral,and reverse positions, prop is turning clockwise and can be stopped by grabbing it! easily

Sounds like a faulty shift switch.-----So find the wires going into the drive.-----Apply 12 volts to green.----Should be forward.---Apply 12 volts to blue should be reverse.

^^^ yup: you can test power at the knife connectors for the electric shift. Port side, toward the back of the engine.
