Decided it is time. Have a BGE and a turkey fryer base that is about 10 years old, never been used.

Initial frame up. 28" both side, 49" counter in the middle (concrete).

Will have 8 drawers and 3 access doors (BGE ask, Propane tank in the middle and general storage under the burner. BGE will be permanently mounted.

Need done by the 4th, wife out of town next week for 8 days, garage is cleaned up to do the concrete work. Took a few hours as the concrete runs downhill in two directions

Turkey fryer base is 200k but and 14 inch. Too much for this build so I ordered a two burner drop in RV stove.

Doesn't look much diff but the drawers came in and needed some adjustments.

Also ordered an easy bake oven aka toaster oven.

300 degree egg with a chicken. Will be ready in a couple hours. I did a 400 degree when I put it on then basically shut it down and that will do the rest. 20240602_163243.jpg

A few hours reworking a few things and roughing in drawers and one of three doors. Yes, I know the top drawers are not level and that will be fixed but I'm tired and wanted my celebration beer. :)

Now, off to make french dips sandwiches for supper.

Looks good! Is that a vinyl fence? If so, you might want some sort of heat shield between the grill/burners and the fences. My wife fired up our grill and it was too close to our vinyl siding and a bunch of the siding got too warm and started drooping...

yes, it is and if you look the framing goes higher than the egg and where the stove eye will be. All will be in durock and at least a skim coat of mortar but wife will prob make me tile the backsplash. And there is a 2.5 inch air gap so hopefully that is enough.

I've melted some siding a couple houses ago, lesson learned both on heat and how to replace siding.....

oh and i guess i didn't mention yet, the whole thing will be durock and mortar/tile - not just crappy wood framing.

I think that's the kind of thing a person only does once!

I have been craving a French Dip for about week now. Now that I have read this I have to make it happen.

I have never heard of that. I had to google it.
Very clever idea.

I never had either, neighbor daughter sent a vid to me. The carton I had was kinda wonky so and I think made them a touch big so I ordered a plastic on off the net.

making progress. going to be out of town rest of this week so nothing advancing but that should give my wife time to let me know what finishes I want to use.

Stove eye came in. 12k btu might hook up for my wife's welcome home supper.

Got some durock decking down, it will be the base of the concrete tops I'll make but until I get to that I can be functional.

12k btu burner boiled water in about 10 min on low. Did some crock pot country pork rib then a few min over some charcoal to give it the kiss.

Hope to get the mortar coat on the face this weekend so can have all the drawers and doors in and finished for the party.

got the tops dne and the backsplash tile will be here tomorrow. Took a minute to figure out best way to make a mold for the circle, ended up perfect using archway sheetrock corner bead.
