Outboard securing question

I haven't the cash at the present for a real transom saver. I'm going to try the redneck version. My question is this, should the OB be turned full one way or should it be strapped straight?

Don't think it's that vital Highspeed.<br /><br />Straight - you've got a perfectly balanced load fore and aft.<br /><br />Sideways - you've got slightly less outboard sticking back off the stern.<br /><br />You pays your money ...
