I currently have my twin honda 90's spaced 42 inches center to center. The industry standard is 26 inches. How does the spacing affect performance. Should I move them closer or is this distance not a problem. The boat is 24ft X 10.5ft welded aluminum 5 to 6 klbs loaded.

Re: outboard motor separation

I don't know a lot about twin setups, but I do know that the further apart you ,mount them, the more handling will be affected (I.E., a lazy or misfiring engine, prop slippage).
Trim will also become harder to set. They will have a tendancy to "steer" the boat.
Other than that, you got me. There may even be some advantage to it, like being able to use the throttles to do some fancy docking.
