Out Drive ID Help.

The motor is an 1988 AQ231b and I believe the drive to be a Dp290a but I am not familiar with the Volvo Penta products. Can anyone positivly ID this drive for me?

No, it's a 280 or 285, Look for a tag on top of the drive, just under where the helmet attaches to the upper gear box.

A DP drive has dual props, known as Duoprop drives. The 290's also had a different style transom shield and hydraulic trim.

Probably a 285a. I just checked the AQ231b and it looks like the 280 wasn't used on that model engine.

Ok, I still don't know what drive I have.
I got all of the documents for the boat today and the owners manual from Volvo covers the 290 drive. Looking further it look like the engine was changed.
So could it be a 290?

No way is it a 290.
It's probably a 280 or 285. The 285 had power steering, the 280 was manual steering. BEFORE your engine change.
