Re: ouch this hurts. boat launch

Yeah thank God for real insurance and not ACA, though the walk ins can be a joke too, seen my family doc on Fri and she looked at the scripts the other doc made and said those wouldn't do a thing. Doubled the one and tripled the other and added some good pain meds to go along with it. And she really hate subscribing pain meds unless they are really needed. Fortuneately didn't hurt the spine!

I also know all about slips and falls. 2 months ago slipped on ice coming off a roof at work and landed on the back of my wrist, that swollen up immedately and cost me another 4 days of work. This isn't turning oout to be a good year at all.

If I feel like this now what's it going to be like in another 10 years?

Re: ouch this hurts. boat launch

As for an upate, it only took me about 10 minutes to get out of bed this morning so I guess I'm making progress, Also am able to get aroundw w/o crutches for the most part and get up and doen out of chairs. Moving frome fide side to still doesn't work so well along with bending over.

Wife still thinks I'm a doo'mo for for trying this stunt and has threatened to hide the boat keys. Haven't been down to the ramp as of yet but my neighbor has and telld me the rutts are termendus. Both in and out of the water! Wife also asked If I'M going to be stupd enough to this again and whith my head hung low of cource I said YES!

Was just told to ice the 1st day then heat. No more than 15 min at a time. The Vicodine is doing a number, making it hard to type! Always seem to be one letter off. Or maybe it's the muscle relaxer! Not moving as well today as yesterday,

Been there, done that.

About all you can do it take it as easy as you can. Range of motion is important in keeping muscles from totally locking up. The spasm tends to reduce blood flow to the area which impedes healing.

Sometimes sitting for long also causes spasms, you GOT TO get up and move. Carefully, limit bending and twisting to what you are comfortable with. That old 'No pain, no gain' isn't for us, it just hurts.

Within reason, the more you can withstand the better and quicker you will heal as even slow movement promotes blood flow throughout the effected muscles.

Ice packs will reduce pain, but they also reduce blood flow. If the pain is so much then by all means, use the ice. Ice for the first 24 hours after injury can seriously reduce swelling, after that first 24 hours use hot packs or showers to promote more blood flow so necessary nutrients for healing can get to the injured muscles. Setting the showerhead on pulse can sometimes be magic.

Do NOT exert these muscles any more than simple range of motion movements. No lifting carrying, or any other activity out of your comfort range.

If your stomach can handle it NSAID, like ????? word escapes me, the active med in Motrin, helps relieve swelling and pain. Acetaminophen can help with the pain. Stay well hydrated, aspirin can thin the blood to help circulate within tense muscles.

It is going to take time.

sounds to me like all your recent problems are due to the increase in gravity that has occurred in the last 20 years--from sinking in, to falling down, to stuff being heavier to lift, to just general sagging in about all parts.

The doc had ice for the 1st 24hr, then heat. Up and walking at least ten minutes at a time. Pills incluse antienfamitories, Muscle relaxers, Vicatin and now a bit of Myers and coke. 1st doc stated it is lower pelvic muscles. 2nd doc agreed. Now facing bladder problems and running to the bathroom every 15-20 minutes. Probably from the muscle relaxers. Now start physical therapy on Thur. Getting out of bed in the morning really hurts.

I've had 3 major surgeries in the past and they never felt like this. But then again I guess the morphine helped with that!!! Really sad part is I was scheduled for vacation in 3 weeks. guess that's out the window,

Re: ouch this hurts. boat launch

Just spent second day at PT and still not a lot better. almost out of pain and muscle relaxers so I started on the Myers and rum.

Seams there was some deep muscle damage to the lower pelvic region in my back.. Still haven't gotten back to the boat to see if I have the shift problem worked out.

Well I can tell you from experience to just work your way through it a day at a time. I spent around 30 plus years working in the coal mines and things happen. How ever it makes a very good argument to keep your boat on a slip, I trailered mine for years and at my wifes insistance it now rests on a slip, :D it sure makes it a lot nicer and easier to use.

A slip with shorestaytion would be wonderfull and a blessing if we had a community dock space. Unfortuneately we have a primative gravel ramp with no pier and no parking.

This just means that the truck needs a winch. You should take the opportunity now while you are on the the mend to point out to your wife that this would have never happened had you had one and don't forget to point out how great she would be if she bought you one. šŸ˜Ž

I think a front mounted hitch would work even better as the rear drive wheels would have been on dry pavement.

Some ramps, like his gravel one, may be a problem with a front hitch on a light rear end p/u. With no weight the p/u may just spin. Using the rear hitch a little tongue weight sure helps traction.
