Sethjon: You're right; I missed it. Sorry. That's what happens when you try to do these things late at night. Glad he found the cause. Frankly, he's lucky that all he had was a problem with an orange spark. Wiring that bad could have caused all kinds of problems, including fire. When you re-wire, use marine wire and fittings, even though auto wire is cheaper. Download the BIA wiring code to help with color and wire size. Take your time and wire it one line at a time. Done. Boat runs great. Special thanks to everybody on this site who chimed in. In the last thirty days and after several different posts have got the following done. Rebuilt carb. new wiring. Distributor advance rebuilt cause not made anymore. And the one thing that caused most of this headache. Bad resister wire. Even though it looked fairly new. Replaced it with ballast resister. Thanks again to all.
