opposed 2 cylinder

i have a small opposed 2 cylinder evenrude serial tag # 4371-34417. i am looking for model, hp, &/or year.

Welcome to the forum short69,<br /><br />The model# 4371 indicates an Evinrude 3.3 hp. made between 1941-1946, sorry I can't be more specific than that. Maybe someone else can.

According to the info I have, s/n 34417 would make it a 1947 model Sportwin.

My reference was Peter Hunn's "The Old Outboard Book". Great reading! I've been unable to find a S/N-year list on-line too.

MCM, as luck would have it, the Antique Outbooarder Archive has got this range of S/Ns for Evinrude:<br /> http://www.infoblvd.net/sah/Outboarder/1977/oct77-38.html <br />This suggests it's a '46 model. '43-'45 were war production years.

Thanks Paul, forgot about those war years too, I'm gonna have to go through some more of those mags. on that site. Lots of great info in there
