Re: Operating Temperature Question - A lil' help?

Riser and manifold pics.

I didn't get a good picture of my manifold, but it "appears" the PORT (Non-overheating) side has a hairline fracture next to the engine. I drained this frikking thing when I winterized it last fall. Looks I didn't get all the water out of the manifold :( The other manifold and riser looks good (on the outside) but I haven't gotten it off yet. I'll try to get a good picture of what I think is the fracture tomorrow evening.

This port Riser is coming all to pieces in the waterjacket area with lots of metal pieces shaking out.

So it sounds like I need to replace risers at a minimum huh?

Well at least the exhaust shutter looks good :D

Speaking of the exhaust shutter, should I leave that in there or go ahead and remove it? My engine has the 6" risers, not the 3" risers.

If I do have a hairline fracture of the manifold (outer "shell"), what are the chances I could get it repaired? 0 to none?

If you had a crack, you would have had a lot more rust in the manifold than what is there now.
The manifolds and risers look fine in the pictures, but the gaskets look like the paper aftermarket gaskets and not the graphite coated OEM gaskets.
I would clean it up, put new OEM gaskets on it and run it.
That picture of the raw water pump looks like a 1 piece housing, hard to tell. I would remove the old pump, take it apart and see what you have for sure.

Alright.

Let me ask one more question. Could the manifold have a crack in the "outer shell", and not have a crack in the "inside"? I know thats not the right wording, but I hope you understand what I am asking.

Fyi, Also on the manifold that "looks" like it has a crack, it is rusted along the "crack".

Ok, I have taken the water pump apart.

Don, I think its a two piece body.

The backplate/cover plate have some pretty good grooves in them but the impeller is in good shape.

HOWEVER, the impeller body is cracked (see pics below)

Should I order a new impeller with body kit?

(The original part number isn't available)

So I believe I need part #46-807151A14 now.

Thanks!
