Hello from west Oz

Recently I bought a great old cente console Ally boat which we (Deb & I) love, but with a control box/throttle for an Evinrude model VE 60 TLENE (c. 1990) that is held together with tape. Forward throttle is really hard to push smoothly and recently am having problems with starting, traceable I think to a difficulty in finding neutral in what is effectively a collapsing control unit (age, maltreatment &c , &c)
Have tried opening the unit to see what is gumming it all up, but cant seperate the two parts of the shell. someting is stil holding it all together.
Can anyone out there advise how to break in and check? or would I be best advised to get a completesecond/hand unit from an outboard wrecker?

Best from Oz in 2005

Knuckles, before you open that control box,try disconnecting the throttle cable at the enine, and see if it helps. The cable could be out of adjustment, and I'd hate to see you get in deeper than you need to.
I also think your c.1990 motor is really 1992.

DHP
