Re: OOOOOOOOO!!!!! That hurt

People like this I would guess are the ones who learned boating "on the fly". We all know we should change our impeller every year or two (or three) but I bet there are a lot of boaters who don't change it until it fails!! I also bet if you've had one fail you change it religiously after that.

My point is that they are idiots for sure but I'd bet they either don't know any better or just don't think that the consequences are real.

On another note alcoholism is a disease!! If you can't have a good time around your kids without drinking (more than one or two) you have a problem. Even if you only drink on "special occasions" like birthday parties and a day out on the lake, if your getting lit up around your kids on every special occasion the alcohol has clearly got a grip on you.

Sorry to get up on my soap box and get all preachy. I got drunk around my kid a few times when he was too young to know what was going on (less than 2 yo) and realized then that I was putting my thirst for alcohol in front of my obligation to raise my children responsibly. Thanksgiving dinner is not an appropriate reason for your kids to see you drunk.

Sometimes I think we should all just stand back and let natural selection take its course. .....Ever hear of the Darwin Awards?

The only good part of that video is that no innocent people got hurt, this time.
It seems lately that there are more and more of those idiots out there, no matter where you are. They walk among us, (and boat, fish, ski and drive too).

I love reading the Darwin awards:D

I bet I'll be reading about one of them in the future.

I wonder whose idea it was to get drunk, on a boat, and pull their friend whose blind, UNDER A BRIDGE:eek:

But to their credit their friend:cool: had the experience of wakeboarding,( and running into a bridge piling... not many people would live to tell about it), and I bet there arent any blind people that can duplicate that stunt...

Makes you wonder who had the angel on their shoulder that day. The guy that could have died hitting the bridge piling or the ones who could have gone to jail for manslaughter if it had gone worse

In Wisconsin boating drunk is the same offense as driving drunk. Really helped cut down on the consumption. .08 is drunk here and you can reach that without to much alcohol.

And as for you tea-totallers, do what you want on your boat but don't be so judgmental. There is a world of difference between having a drink and getting drunk--the same difference as driving under a bridge "no wake" and driving under a bridge WOT. The boaters around here (this forum) are responsible and know that.

Sorry, can't agree.
What is the difference between drinking in a boat and drinking in a car or truck on the road? Or is that OK too, "in moderation"?
