Only goes in reverse.

1967 Johnson 80hp electromatic. Was going at wide open and all of sudden no forward drive. Stopped boat put back in forward nothing at all. Put it into reverse and boat moves in reverse. So of course I went back to ramp in reverse. Not sure about linkage as the cable appears to go into engine so it is not visible.

looks like you might have either and electrical problem or forward spring has broken in lower housing. Default is forward position! I would disconnect electrical it lower unit and see if prop engages. That will tell you where you need to go. Good luck!
