Last night about 1 in the morning Larry Evans shot and killed his brother Brian Evans, neighbor, and wounded 2 females. Brian was a city policeman and a member of the SWAT team. He also pulled duty for security at the hospital where my wife works. He was one of the best, great family man and willing to help anybody that needed it. Larry is being held at the county jail. The standoff lasted about 3 hours before he was taken into custody.

The families had gone to the movies and Larry left early. Brian went to his house to see what was wrong. That is when Larry went crazy shooting at anyone who came close to his apartment.

Sure is sad that this stuff has to happen. For more info log into myfoxcleveland dot com.

He was one of the officers that had some dealings with my son several years back. He will be missed by many.

Saw it in the news SS. Seems like more and more of our law folks are being cut down here in the states. Its a different mentality than it was say 20 or so years ago.

My fishn bud who is a state trooper told me if I was ever stopped to keep my hands on the steering wheel until they have approached. They are locked and loaded when they approach here in Ohio.

OhNo!, Sorry to hear SS, I know it really hits home once you personally know someone. It always seems like the good guys are taken out. It sounds like his brother might have had some behavioral issues. By the way, I couldn't get your link to work?

Murdered Police Officer's Brother Charged With the Crime

Detail

MANSFIELD, Ohio -- The Richland County man who shot and killed two people, including his brother -- a Mansfield police officer, appeared in court Thursday morning to face charges of murder, Fox 8's Angele Ringo reports.

Larry Evans, 39, entered automatic not guilty pleas to two counts of aggravated murder and one count of attempted aggravated murder. The Mansfield Municipal Court clerk's office tells Fox 8 News that Evans was given a $1 million cash bond.

Brian Evans, Larry's younger brother, was found dead after 1 a.m. Wednesday by officers responding to a call of a disturbance and shots fired at a home in Weller Township, northeast of Mansfield, according to a joint statement from the police department and the county sheriff's office.

Brian, 37, was a 14-year veteran of the Mansfield police force. He was off duty when he was gunned down by his older brother.

Larry's next-door neighbor Robert Houseman, 44, was also killed, Richland County Sheriff Steve Sheldon said at a news conference.

Trina Evans, 37, Brian's wife, and Kimberly Evans, 42, Brian's sister, also were shot, but survived. Trina Evans was treated at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital and released, Sheldon said. Kimberly Evans remained at the hospital, which would not provide her condition.

Deputies who responded to a call at 1:11 a.m. were fired on multiple times outside Larry Evans' house. He surrendered peacefully around 4:40 a.m.

Brian Evans had received many awards for police work. He is survived by his wife and a 10-year-old daughter, Tess.

"He was most known for his humor, his love for his wife, and the deep bond they shared with their daughter," the police department said in a statement.

Something that they don't say is that Larry shot Brian in the back! Everyone that was shot was outside the apartment. Lots of people knew the shooter and can't believe that he went off like that.

This wasn't one of those shoot the cop things because of the badge.

A little over a week ago, my BIL had some problems with his girlfriend as she cleaned his account out and destroyed his credit (damn crack heads). She overdosed and tried suicide. Brian was the first on the scene. With his help, she survived. Any longer wait before the ambulance got there she would have been dead.

Yes indeed, this officer was a great example of our brothers in uniform. Turely sad that his own brother took his life and his neighbor as well. Luck had it that the women survived. Its is hard to believe that something like this shakes the whole community up, but it is understandable.

Thanks bjcsc for putting up the info
