There was a little man in Europe. He was rather a loner growing up and really had no power and was greatly possessed with a need to be powerful. But he was only a painter.

Finally he got into a minor position of power and became obcessed with it. He wrote a book the basis of his philosophy and then began censuring all liberal literature.

Yes it all began with censureship. You all know what I mean, the third REICH, a word that moderators on this site have chosen to now be censured. Sound familiar to anyone???

Power does corrupt even those whose only power might be to edit a small chat room.

Re: Once Upon A Time

Just my .02 here.

This is their house, we are gusts. Therefore we are bound to their rules.

If someone comes to my house and says things I don't want in my house, they find the door.

It is a private message board on a private internet site. There is no constitutional right here, it is their house.

If someone were to keep a person from speaking their mind on the public street then I would be all over it for that persons rights, but again this is their house their rules.

One really beautiful thing is if I don't like the rules I can leave. If I don't like the topic I can shut it off and return to the real world.

We are here by choice and they offer us this place to visit out of kindness. Maybe a little commercial gain in mind in the way of advertising, but the fact remains it is their house and their rules.

I understand your frusteration, but I personally feel it is without weight here.

The moderators here make judgment calls. In my opinion and in most cases they do a hard job well. That is why I keep coming here, it is a polite forum not filled with profanity and filth or commercial garbage. Whatever they have to do to keep it that way has my support.

I do agree that sometimes their calls may be biassed leaning toward certain people. In that I have seen someone post what I would call questionable and get away with it, later someone else will post almost identical content and be poofed. But that is the judgement issue. I figure if it really bothers me I will report the post or I will just leave.

Bottom line it is their house, their rules, I agreed to these rules and the way the forum is moderated when I came here.

Now I will crawl back to my little corner and continue to watch the world pass me by.

Re: Once Upon A Time

Used in a correct context, reich is just another word. It is not censured here, though this is a private site and anything may be edited or deleted for any reason or for no reason.

Used to insult others it is not in the spirit of this site.

The same is true of words like communist, socialist, pinko or any otherwise innocent word used to insult a person or point of view.

Name calling in general is undesirable.

Re: Once Upon A Time

Yes it was and by you JB. No one referred to anyone rather as to a political tendency and you jumped, not on me but on others. Same thread you were participating in you permitted marxist in same context. I felt neither was a direct or personal attack but you did and made a big deal out your intent to censure.

I oppose censureship at any level unless it is as described directed harmfully at another writer on line. Politicians are free game. If one thinks Kennedy's idealogy is socialist, then that is fine to sign; but likewise one calls Bush's tendencies fascist or pun such as reich then so be it as well.

I should not be allowed to call you a nazi nor you refer to me as a liberal as that is name calling.

Oh yeah and I agree this site does not belong to me but nor does it belong to the moderators and if they become abusive of the rights of us, who enjoy the iboat forum then they deserve review by the owners.

It always begins somewhere! Be careful agreeing with the latex amphi, I did it twice one week and had to go to my psych overtime.

I guesss I made you realize how messed up you were? :D

We don't have any rights here. This isn't a democracy. Why don't you see that? I am quite certain that the owners know all about JB and his style.

It's Ok to have a problem or disagree, but in the end it doesn't matter how you think or feel about it. The "owners" put the mods in charge. Not you, me, or the rest of the group. Period.

You probably don't remember this, but I once was PO'd at JB. I told him I was PO'd and then took a few days off and got over it. I suggest you do the same. All your accomplishing here is the appearance of insolence and devisiveness, and at some point the mods might not put up with it anymore.

I enjoy hearing your opinions (truthfully). I often don't agree with them, but I respect them as yours. You made your point here. We all heard it. You think there is censorship here. You're right. There is, and there is nothing you can do about it. Move on or move out.

Peace,
George

Re: Once Upon A Time

I believe the chip on your shoulder was placed there yourself Txwinner. Constantly attacking the mods may put just a little paranoia in your own mind. The little painter you referred to earlier also had just a 'bit' of paranoia in his make up.

Just a piece of advice my Grandmother used to give me...you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

The mods are in charge of making ongoing decisions about threads and the people involved. The mods are empowered by Iboats to take action in the company name. We have no right to free speech on a private site.

Actually, not always true. Hopefully, if a moderator is able to accept his shortcomings and bias hopefully they can be open minded enough to make the adjustment. We shall see.

Re: Once Upon A Time

Twidget, You grandmother was correct and I should heed her advice. I am not grieved by moderators, only the one who wants to state his side and participate at length then wants to stomp out others opinions that are not aligned with his.

Truth is one should either participate in the forum and voice opinions or serve as a moderator. From the actions of a particular moderator on this site to be active and fair to all sides is not possible.

And there are no private sites left, we are all being watched.

I liked the pre Christmas txswinner. His posts were almost pleasant to read. Seriously, I am not kidding , even though I never agree with him, I liked him without all the conspiarcy theory.

What page did you register on????....and please point me in the direction of "THE RIGHTS" that we have, whatever they may be.
The Mods may not have any more "RIGHT" to be here than you, but they have been given the "RIGHT" to MODERATE as they see fit, and for some reason, you seem to think you have "RIGHTS" on this site that no other person has...someone calls "foul", and you just start another post leading into the same situation.
With this being said, I think you need to expect being slapped on the hands when you continue in this manner.

Be very careful, statements like this can be very frightening to some. Don't be suprised if you are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
