? On rebuild used outdrive

I was also concerned about the bearings if there's that much rust on the gears. You can clean up the gears and see how they look, But would you guys really put a gear box back together with rusty bearings!
BTW I was thinking that you paid more like $1,000 than $50. The housing is worth more than that.

I bought the boat used last year an 1985 carve 2657 montango and was planning on rebuild the outdrive drive so I bought the rebuild kit last year for it think 500 to 600 came with the 1.47 1.50 bevel gears seals and orings and the below kit it was my mistake I put it off had all the tools made up in plan on doing the rebuild in December or off season but the last time out for the season the gears went and cracked the upper I did not wanticipate to put 1500 in a new outdrive when I have everything to rebuild ya know so I came across my buddies and thought perfect I can use the parts on that

So you made your own shimming tools? You really need the proper tools.!

How is a exact copy within .0001 not a proper tool it's amazing what can be copied at when you're uncle makes tight tolerance aircraft parts
