I have a 1989 Bayliner Trophy with an OMC Cobra outdrive. I have replaced the internals and the housing of the water pump. Initially I thought the problem was solved but it has come back. There is no water being pumped up. When I remove the hose on the engine with the engine running there is no water comming out of the hose. I've increased the rpm with no luck. I am able to run the boat using the airator pump for cooling. OK I hope I have made my problem clear. ANY SUGESTIONS? null

Re: OMC water pump problem

Take the intake hose off the water pump.Attach it to
a garden hose.

Turn the water hose on, and observe the flow out of the raw water intake at the hull fitting.. I suspect an obstruction in the raw water intake primarily, but if you had good flow to the pump, check the thermostat. I doubt this is bad, as you state that you can get cooling thru the aireator pump.

Did you change impeller in outdrive, and is impeller turning. There is power steering oil cooler between outdrive pump and engine, may be stopped up . There is a plug and screw that look likes oil drain plug on the port side of outdrive if missing most of the water will come out this hole. The hole is for a flushing connector.
