OMC Type D Lubricant?

I have a 1969 Johnson 55HP that I had to take down to the points plate to replace the wiring to the points. Well the anti backfire spring was wore out so I bought a new one. The manual says to put a small amount of OMC type D lubricant on the crank shaft to help prevent wear of the spring.

I have searched google but can not find anything in reference to OMC type D.

Does anyone know what could be used in the place of the type D?

Thanks in advance.

Re: OMC Type D Lubricant?

Type "D" is actually "Extreme Pressure Grease", used in generator bearings, V4 Magneto Bearings, etc. It is available just about everywhere.... auto parts type stores, your dealership, etc. It's advisable to use more than just a small amount, spread it around the C/S at that spring level and also on the spring itself. Just don't overdo it (no big gigantic glob).

If you can't locate it, get back to me.

That should do it, but make sure that it is to be used as I explained..... high speed generator bearings, etc.
