omc electric shift switch problems

omc electric shift switch problems

Hello I need some help with my 1975 galaxie with a 175 hp omc electric shift
This boat was in storage since 1985 in a airplane hanger. And it only has 37 hours on it. I got it running again, and replaced
The water pump in the outdrive, changed all the fuilds and gas. I took it out for the first time. Everything was
Great for 30 minutes. Then the forward slipped then when back into gear. Then started slipping somemore
And then locked up in drive. Locking up the motor and everything. I put it back into netual and it started back up,
Put back into drive locked up again. Started it again but put it in reverse and that worked fine. When
I was on the water, I reversed the to wires"the green and the blue wires" next to the engine.
Started the engine put it into drive and it worked fine stopped and put it in reverse and it. Locked up everything like before. But now it reverse.

Does anyone know why still is happening?

Ps I took the lower unit off the outdrive and had it looked at and resealed.
It checked out good.

Any help will be help fully

CM - welcome aboard.

Ya' bumped an old thread bud. Start a new post in the OMC forum and give it a title that relates to your problem at hand. You'll get more and better responses that way.

Make sure the lower unit drive lube you have is type C (gotta' have that for the electric shift to work right), and make sure you don't have any metal chips in your lower unit lube (a little concerned that you chewed up a gear).

Start that new post - mods will probably close this one.
