OMC Stringer remote shift

I removed the side shift remote on my 77 Deckboat OMC 140 sterndrive. The throttle lever will not stay horizontal and just drops down vertical by itself. I also dont care for the small knob you have to pull to put the sterndrive into neutral.
I’m going to clean it up and re grease it.
I think i found a set screw that might tighten up a spring loaded bearing that holds the lever in its notch. Its what i can see with it partially dismantled so it might solve the loose lever. Does anyone know what type of throttle this is and if any sort of rebuild kit is availiable for it in case I loose something or if any worn components need to be replaced?
Is there a newer throttle that i could use?
The trim control is on a separater toggle switch on the dash.
Thanks

If you're electric shift, you'll want the OMC controller. Or you'll have to rig up a switch to change gears.

It looks like a Morse or a Marmac. Is your drive electric shift or mechanical?
There are several OMC concealed side mount controls available if you google OMC shift control.

From what I've seen online, its a Marmac so you are spot on on that one, i have a stringer 400 electric shift. So it really just need a cable for throttle and a switch for the forward/reverse and a pull mechanism to put it into neutral for warmup. I’ve seen these on sailboats. I've seen some new ones i can possibly retrofit that have the same mechanics even with a handle mounted trim switch should i want to run the trim circuit wires to it. I will clean up and lube the original and give that a try before i start butchering wires, cables, and switches trying to install a newer one. I really wanted a rebuild kit, the marmac is just switch, gears, washers, bushings, c clip, a spring, and a ball bearing. And the all look good upon inspection, it will probably outlive me with just a little maintenance. I work at an aerospace maintenace facility so i could have just about anything fabricated up.

I do not believe that the " 400 " models were electric shift.----Agreed ---Does exhaust come out the center of the prop ?----Is there a shift and throttle cable on that control ?

Just one cable for throttle, the shift is a switch. The prop has a rubber nose so no exhaust coming through there.

OK, I was little confused when you posted the model as a 400. Those are the straight mechanical drives. Anytime you ever need anything for your drive platform just call it an electric shift stringer model. The upper gear housing and internals will however swap over from a 400 model should something wear out in your upper.
With what you are describing it should be no problem for you to keep the control working. Hopefully the shift switch will hold up as they are hard to find.
