Finally got my engine reinstalled after replacing my stringers, deck and motor mount beds. I did my best to make sure the mounts were all at the same height as previously, but in case of any error I'm trying to figure out how this front motor mount is supposed to be setup. It's a manual trim system with a couple nuts and a jackscrew. Are there any reference dimensions off the stern drive to get an initial angle started? Is it adjusted by purely trial and error? First boat, don't know much about how it should ride when it's on plane.IMG_6924.JPG

Start by setting the cavitation plate on the drive parallel with the keel After the drive is installed.

if it was my stringer boat, I would look for a 3.0 stringer with power trim and use that over the 2.5 the extra 20hp is worth it.

if you just want the power trim, it replaces the front A-frame assembly

next question on your boat as you are spending lots of money on an obsolete motor and drive. did you replace your ball gears yet? have you pulled the outdrive apart and replaced the raw water pump and inspected the vertical drive shaft?

do not damage that lower shift cable. current price on it is $900

Replaced ball gears, impeller and shaft. Reshimmed everything in the whole outdrive. Had everything completely torn apart and now going back together, hoping to go for a test run tomorrow. Shift cable is in good shape thankfully. Definitely kicking myself for spending as much as I have on this but I’ve still spent less than a repower so there’s that.

Ayuh,...... Seein's it's a stringer drive, 'n the alignment factors are the entire driveline's alignment with the runnin' surfaces, aka: the attitude of the hull in the water,......
Rather than a rubber mounted, engine to drive alignment,....

I'd shoot for slightly low for the finial finished height of the glassed in portion of the front mount, 'n go splash it, 'n see how the hull handles,......

If the jackscrew doesn't give ya enough adjustment for achieving the ultimate perfect ride, 'n handlin',.....
You can easily build little shimmin' blocks to shim up the front mount, 'n try again,.....

'ell, an ole chunk of hardwood shippin' pallet will give ya enough wood to built a shim, up to over an inch thick, that last 10 years or more,......
Easy peasy,....
