I'm new here ..... this is my first post.
I'm 61 years old and bought my first boat......1974 Winner "Minikai". And I'm already working on the OMC Sterndrive 165. I need to give a "Shout-Out" to Howard Sterndrive:
Thank you Howard ! 🙂 I read a post you made back in 2011 that helped me GREATLY with my problem with the tilt motor/shaft/clutch/quadrant gear/ect..... had the wife give me a hand and I'm moving forward with getting my first boat in the water for the first time ! Again THANK you for that post !
Respectfully,

If they are stripped then the stringers need to be replaced. The engine and drive will need to be removed.

I checked all (12) bolts. Its got an Inline 6 cylinder with power trim. Each of the 4 engine mounts have 3 bolts. All were tight..... I wrenched each one hard enough to turn the bolt some..... no problems with the stringers that the engine mounts to ! 🙏🏻 Thanks for telling me to check that ! 👍

With a boat that old there is rot. Just a matter how much. Need to do some test holes. Start with reading all the stickys
