Hello all,
If any of you guys followed my 1949 qd-10 repair thread I mentioned my purchase of the 4 motors.
Was probably not my best purchase but 4 vintage outboards for less than a tank of gas it was hard to pass up. Although cost me more than a tank of gas to pick them up (note to self stay off of out of state craigslist) 3hrs away.
Any way some pics/info.
2.5 JOHNSON.jpg3.3 EVIN 1947.jpg3.3 EVIN 1948.jpg7.5 EVIN 1951.jpg4 MOTORS.jpg
The 1st one is Johnson 2.5 hp 1946
The 2nd one is evinrude 3.3 hp 1947
The 3rd one is evinrude 3.3 hp 1948
The 4th one is evinrude 7.5 hp 1951 w/neutral

I made this posting for several reason,
1 currenty want one more small motor running to put on a boat/sell in spring to recoupe some of my costs so far on my Malibu project.
2 any suggestions on which motor may be easiest to source parts for.
3 Make any parts available from the other ones to people who are looking to fix/restore their motors.

I still need to check them over more to verify which one needs less work (2.5 is out I think, power head makes not so good noises while pulling starter cord) I am leaning toward 1951 evinrude w/neutral. Should push the 12 Jon boat I will be selling good. I think I want to keep the 1947 3.3 evinrude, I am partial to opposed cylinder engines, My 1963 VW and 2 of my motorcycles are BMW opposed twins.
Any comments/suggestions/parts needed just let me know.
Charlie

The 4443 Fleetwin is a good option to put on the boat. It will be easiest to find parts for, and will push it the best. Did you know that the tiller group screws out and is actually a screwdriver?

I didn't realize the handle on the 4443 did, I knew the 4423 did but its handle/screw driver was not included with motor.

I would say the 7.5 is the best motor to keep as well. The carbs for those 3.3s are really hard to get parts for. The 2.5 is about 1 generation too old for an easy restoration.

Regarding the sudden accumulation of vintage outboards, look at my signature and you will see that it happans to a lot of us.
I have a 7.5 that shares the powerhead with your old one, but for 1954 they swithed from the pivot reverse with neutral hub design and went with a remote tank & new F-N-R lower unit.
