Hi Everyone, Ok this sounds really confusing and I'm trying to figure this problem out.. I have a 1987 omc cobra 5.0. Really old but its a good runner. I had it out on the river last year about 6 or 7 times ran awesome no problems. Well I hit something while going about 30 and it damaged my prop. So I went ahead and replaced it. Went to put it in the water the next time and had about 4 people on board and once I start to plain out it slips right into neutral and lets right off kinda scary. So I slowed down and when I stop I put it back in forward and get it to almost plain and slips right back into neutral. So I took everyone out of the boat and took it out by myself and it had no problem getting up to speed and it plained out perfect.. Can anyone help me out??? Or give me some advice???

well.. sounds like you damaged the lower end, you might be able to tweak the shift cable to get a stronger forward, but I'd think about getting the lower gear case disassembled before you get some of that broken parts into the bearings in there.
