1989 4.3L Cobra

pulled the drive for the first time and when putting back the exhaust bellows noticed this blacked, shriveled, piece of rubber about 3" in diameter. After looking at the parts manual, figured it was probably the exhaust flapper which had broken off and made it's way down to the exhaust hole near the transom. Dismanteled the exhaust elbows & connectors on one side, and sure enough, missing flapper.

Two questions:

Didn't look at the other side, but I'm sure it could use replacement as well. Things are a little tight right now, & hate to spend $40+ or so on 2 new flappers. Does anybody know if anyone ever came out with an aftermarket single flapper that would somehow attach to the exhaust hole at the transom for a Cobra that would replace the two flappers up in the exhaust pipes?

If not, is the OMC 0985749 flapper (Exhaust Seal Assembly) the same part as the Volvo-Penta 3853864-1 Exhaust Seal Assembly? Not too many places out there seem to carry this. Did find it at Doug Russell & I think Go2Marine, but thats about it.

thnaks for any info you might have.
