Just an observation.

One site that is frequented often by outboard enthusiasts is old-omc.de, "The Old OMC Site". They have many, many scans of catalogs. My question is, do they hold the copyright on this material? If not, why has someone in this country not put up a similar site? It seems strange to me that we are depending on a German site for info on American made products.

It would seem to me that of the many U.S. outboard enthusiasts on the internet, that some would have the skill sets and resources to effect this.

Re: OMC Catalog Site

It could happen, and the BRP folks wouldn't care if those brochures got posted. The problem is the work involved and the scarcity of the brochures.

It takes an avid collector to assemble the brochures. Then, that collector has to have the skills and will to put up a web site. We're lucky to have one web site with brochures on our old OMC favorites. I don't care if it's in Germany or Timbuctu.

No doubt, BRP holds the copyrights on those brochures, held over from their acquisition of OMC. Do they care that someone's posting them? Nope. Will they get involved with legal action against the site? Nope. So the copyright question is moot, really.
