omc 4.3 stutter died.........will start idel but knock and die in gear

Was on the lake today after tuneing up the boat for the first time this year.....ran like a champ......we were just floating and decided to head back in and right as it planed out it stutered and died like it lost fuel started right back up and would go in forward at idel rpm in gear any quicker and sounded like a clank on the backside of motor or lower end and dies....started fine after but same result in forward gear ....got towed in and now have all panels removed for access to engine....just at a loss where to start! ANY ideads would be apreciated

Ayuh,.... Drain the drive, 'n look for metal.....

Check the fuel filter for water....

Drained drive ...no metal....... pretty sure the carrier bearing is siezed....tring to get a spanner to get it out...

Check fuel supply. Bugs got in my tank and same crap happened. I shouldnt tell you how i isolated it. Could get you or others set on fire. Always start at fuel system

also the engine is fine only the drive is siezed
