......Hey its the Olympics....one sleepy period, maybe one or two sleepy shifts...and you can be on the plane home in no time..LOL.
Actually, I don't like the idea of playing easier teams in working through a tournament like this. Personally, I like all the competition to be there....right now....every game tough.
Canada has had a few easy games and has been getting better every game....but you really want to be 100% conditioned for competition going into the final medal rounds...not coming off of a slumber party.
So lets see how things go tomorrow!!!

I'd think the only real chance of a surprise is Russ v. Fin.
Anything is possible in the others, with the least likely upset being Swe v. Slovenia.

But it would be a shock if it is not Swe/Can/Russ/USA through to the semis.
Not sure the pairings then, but I think it would be Can v. USA in semis.

I agree Tim....personally I would rather change opponents with the U.S tomorrow and play against the Czechs. That should be a good game tho'!

I would not underestimate the Fins, Russia will have all they can handle with Finland, otherwise I think the higher seeds come through just fine.

...yeah, unbelievable....downed by the Finns 3-1...wow.
Just goes to show that one a game by game basis...you just never know.
As the home country it would have been good to Russia go through to the Medal round for their own sense of pride.
I guess the fans weren't too happy....lots of jeers and boos I guess which is not too great on the fans part.
Hang on to your hats guys....its going to get bumpy!...and we are up next in about 1 hr I think.

If it was due to my outstanding analytical ability re: hockey, I wouldn't be as surprised as I am.

Just that: 1) there is always ONE upset at least....and 2) the Finns always give the Russians all they can handle whether it is sports.... or a war....

I think it has more to do with the Olympic ice then anything Volphin, to much at risk, if you miss you are now badly out of position, the whole tournament has been more conservative so far, but that can all change in a moment.

The Olympic ice just changes so much of the game as opposed to NHL ice, so much more room, passing and speed are much more pronounced, and from what I have seen the boards in Sochi are dead compared to the NHL specs, the physical side is bound to suffer.

I am amazed at how the ice changes so quickly in these games. Starts out great and becomes a mess in 1/2 a period. And the boards, one game they seem dead and the next game seem very lively. It has to be hard to prepare for these games when you have no clue what the conditions will be ... almost like they are playing the Winter Classic every time!
