I recently purchased two older merc's. I think they are a 1972 and 1975 85 hp. I can not find a place to accuratly cross reference the serial numbers and need some help. The numbers are 3187534 and 4095657. Also, will all the parts from these two engines interchange?

Re: Older Year Model

parts interchange your need to cross reference the parts list of both motors. this way you can see what can and cannot be used.

Re: Older Year Model

I believe your 1972 is a 800 ( 80 hp ) and your 1975 is a 850 ( 85 hp). Their may be some similar parts but the carbs are probably different. Or at least different jets. Piston and cylinder specs are probably different also.
