Older Easy Hauler - can I repair?

Hi - I have an older Easy Hauler trailer for my bowrider. The boat is approx 1800lbs. The trailer is rusty but certainly not rusted out...anyway though there are 2 crossmembers for the rollers and I just noticed the back crossmember has a split in it.

Can this be repaired/welded? Or can I source another crossmember and replace it myself? Would I need to use air tools for this or can I just bolt on a new one with manual tools?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Can't afford a new trailer right now but desparately want to play with my boat!

P.s. I am in Pickering, Ontario.

Many thanks!

Yes they can be welded if there is enough good metal there to weld.

Hard to tell without at least seeing some pics, but if there's enough good metal left you can take an angle grinder and chop out the rusted sections and bolt in a replacement crossmember. Welding is obviously better but if you can't weld it then at least use several bolts per side.

Here are some pics. Would love to know anyone's thoughts on if this is repairable/replaceable.

Many thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.

That should certainly be weldable. Probably cheaper to have a welding service weld it up for you, sure you can find one nearby your home than it would be to replace it as well.

From looking at the picture, if it was mine I?d weld it. Weld the crack and put a patch over it. I have a mig welder in the garage and could fix that for you in no time. As a matter of fact I?m only about 40 miles from you if you want to bring it over.

That would be 40 miles as a bird fly?s, or a boat travels! lol It would probably be more like 150 miles driving around the lake. :D
