Some of you will remember last year sometime when I posted a few pics of my 14' lund and my new (1985) 25hp Merc. It was a long shaft motor on a short shaft boat. I did construct a transom extender and was planning to use it...BUT I changed my mind and went with a all new full length/width plywood transom. What do you think..? I am taking my boat walleye fishing next weekend on the Wisconsin river. Wish me luck....

This is a pic of the new long shaft transom in place.

This is a pic of my first idea, I built this transom extender but I opted for a whole new transom.

Nice job. I'm in the same situation deciding between a jack plate and doing just what you did. I'm leaning toward the full width replacement too. Can you give a brief description of your methods?

I'd use some of the hardware from the extender on the new unsupported transom. And where do you buy red...wood?:p
