Old transducer holes and stress cracks. How to fix?

In mounting my new transducer I came across this mess of old holes and stress cracks. Stripping, inspecting and repainting the hull bottom is a project for next year. What should I do for this season with this mess? Some of the holes go through the transom and into the bilge it seems.

I have some “Bondo Glass”. Do you think this is comparable?
Any doubts and I’ll grab some marine Tex in the morning.

here’s a link to the bondo

Nope

I countersink the hole to accommodate a stainless steel flat head wood screw. I oversize the counter sink so the had of the screw sit 1/16" or so below the surface of the gel coat.

Apply Marinetex to the threads of the screw and screw it. Fill the countersink to hide the head of the screw and let dry.

Take your time. It's a lot easier to smooth the area of the repair while the epoxy is still wet. It's tough stuff to sand afterwards

Agree with dingbat. Marinetex (or PC-11, which is pretty much the same but a bit less expensive) will do the trick. I like PC-11 just because it's easier to get; my local Ace Hardware has it.

Thats alot of holes. I would sand down thw entire area to clean glass. Drill out the old holes to clean em uo. Top off the holes with a counter sink bit. Make PB with 1/4" chopped glass and fill holes. If any go thru the hull back off the other side with
some duck tape or let it drip thru, sand, patch, paint/gelcoat.
On the transducer. overdrill size the opening, fill with same pb, drill out to fit transducer, add some glass if you want to, wipe/add some 4200. set trans and set screws with 4200.
If the hull is too thin then add a pc. of wet out ply for height. That will need glassed/PB or 4200 on bottom. Same drill out a described above.
