Old to new-ish Johnson repower questions.

I have a 16ft center console boat with a old 1988 Johnson 88hp that had a couple pistons come apart.

I am repowering with a 2004 Johnson (suzuki?) 70hp 4-stroke. Motor is mounted, and its onto wiring. I am wondering the normal ground point is for the battery cable on this outboard. The positive goes to the solenoid, opposite of the cable going to the starter, buy I am unsure where the ground lead goes.

I bought just the motor. I have a new matching harness, and remote control unit. Is there a separate installation manual for this outboard? (I honestly do not know). Does the service manual cover installation of the motor? If so buying that might be best. Just a description or pic of the ground connection would help for right now.

Thanks
Rob

I believe it’s just the ground terminal on the starter. Couldn’t find a good picture of the starter but it does say it has a “remote mounted solenoid switch” through 2004. I would guess the ground would still be on the actual starter though

The ground cable can go anywhere on the block.---Cable length should coincide with where might be best--Yes it is a SUZUKI built engine.

Thank you KevinM207! I've squirreled away that wire diagram for future use.

Yea I ended up bolting it to the block, where another ground point is. It doesn't seem like the factory place, but the outboard starts and runs fine with it there, and I am able to route the cable out of the way of any linkages moving. Thanks guys.
