Yeah, thats the sound of it. I'll get final word on it when the boat shop takes off the manifold and inspects the valve area and riser too.

The thought process is that the water is leaking into the valves, then down to the cylinders, past the rings, and into the pan. At least, I'm praying its that and not a cracked block or head leaking into the oil chambers/pan.

But my only question is why I didn't notice any water when I removed the plugs?...unless the water was minimal and simply leaked down past the rings. If it was major, I'm assuming hydrolock would have taken over and water would have been easily visable when hand turning the engine with the plugs out.

We'll see what the shop says...

Where in the manifold was your crack? I am having the same issue, but I have my engine stripped down to the cylinders and I have no visible cracks on the intake manifold or the heads.

It turns out I had more then just the manifold crack. I also had a crack in the block, on the port side, directly under the manifold near the power steering cooler. If you do a search for water in oil, you'll see some of my recent posts.

To answer your question, my manifold crack was underneath the manifold slightly forward of the carb area.

If you've got water in your oil, its likely either the manifold, riser, head or block,... unless your engine area was under water and it seaped in somehow.

Just do what Bondo says....and agree the bill will be a little more than they say, but if your wife says take to the shop and then wants to take you on vacation, just what in the hell are you listing to us for? She got a unmarried sister? :D :D
