Old Glastron identification

Hi all!

A buddy recently bought an old boat to fix up as a fun summer project. We're struggling to identify it though, as the seller didn't have any information on it (he got it long ago from someone else who was planning to fix it up, and that's all he was able to provide us with). The HIN tells us it's a Glastron and the internet told us that it was most likely made after 1973. We were hoping that you'd be able to help us out with this conundrum.

Thank you!

Not to rain on you friend's parade but unless he has all the paperwork in order he may never be able to get that boat registered for use. #2; Just to make it seaworthy will cost more than the boat will ever be worth. #3; That trailer is way to small for that boat and will have get another trailer for it, more dollars.
That was a sharp looking boat in it's day but very few old fiberglass boats are collectable and will ever appreciate in value.

This is indeed something we're somewhat worried about, though apparently he knows someone who's able to help out with this.

That's likely, conveniently he didn't pay much. We did also put her in the water before finalizing the purchase and she did well enough in the harbour area, we're hoping she'll manage calmer lakes and rivers just fine when fixed up.

Yep, this was the best we could find in the moment and it will do for now, he's currently wondering whether it's worth finding another one or if he could modify it to fit better (something he does have experience with)

Thanks for your concern though!

This site has been of a lot of help dating our boat, though sadly it didn't give enough information to identify her model.
Need a little more information. Measure the overall length of the boat and let us know what it is. That appears to be some thing in the CV series. Depending on the length that hull may of been originally been I/O powered and the transom converted at sometime for an outboard. The metal on the transom I don't thing was the way it came from the factory and is the same material looks like the metal also used to fabricate the storage boxes on the trailer.
Look at some of the posts on the restoration groups on this site. You will get a lot of hints on how the job is done and see step by step how others have tackled similar projects.

The back end looks like a cvx16. But not the rest of it. Not sure it’s a glastron to be fair. But not an expert. I have a cvx16. It’s not one of them anyway
