I have 6 gallons of old 50:1 mix in my garage that I dare not put in my outboard. Any harm in running it through my 8hp Briggs riding lawnmower? How about running it through my 2 cycle weed whacker (instead of the special oil for it)? If not to either or both questions - why?

I thought I remember reading somewhere that this was a no-no but am caught in a "senior moment" now.

Re: Old Fuel

SoLittle,
You should have no problem running it in your 2 Cycle weed eater. I have been running 50:1 from a 6 Gal. container in my Lawn Mower(4 Stroke) all summer and it runs fine. I have heard that you can even run it in your car, but do it when it's about half full or less, then top up your tank. I did this with an old Chevy work truck with no problems at all!

Yup, I vote for the car, too. More forgiving than small engines.

The car has a catalitic(sp?) convertor that can clog up from oil.

Re: Old Fuel

Don't put it in your air-cooled engines. Its not compatable with the high heat requirements of small engines. Sure, some have tried, and maybe the engine didn't fails immediately, but how many scores did it leave in the cylinder....

If the fuel smells soured, get rid of it.... :(
