I just bought an old elto, with the serial#4383-04388. I tried the Inroduces trick but there are no letters in the serial #. Is there anyone that can tell me the year and hp of the outboard. Thanks

1945 9.7 hp I suspect

4383 is the Evinrude model number for a 9.7 hp from 1945 to 1949

4383 is the model number for a 9.7hp Lightfour
04388 is the serial number placing it at 1946
