Look for some type of polarity marking where the wires attach. Usually if its dc there is a mark. Ac dont matter so they dont mark it. But i bet the coil is shot

Something else....
Unwire the coil from the rest and see what resistance you get. Should be a few ohm to a few hundred. Should not be zero and definantly not read open

can you post several clear pictures of where the wires go to and of the relay.
