boat 3.jpgboat.jpgboat2.jpgI recently got a boat that i only wanted the motor for and i got to thinking about it and i need a new project anyway so my question is first what kind of boat did i get and will it cost more to fix it up than it would be to sell it if i fixed it up. I checked for a HIN number and it was worn off. Any info on this would be greatly appriated. Thank you

Re: old boat

generally speaking, you will not turn a profit restoring and selling a boat. You can generally buy boats all day long and sell the trailer and motor for more than the boat cost.

Since you don't have a hin or a title you really don't have a boat in my state, but there are states where you can get away without a title. The "worn off" hin is also suspect and would make me fear a shady history.

I'd haul it to the dump but if you decide otherwise we'll help any way we can.

Re: old boat

ditto on what smoke said.

welcome to iboats by the way.

the pics are too small for us to see what the boat is. glass or wood. tin or rubber.

but generally speaking a boat that old is not worth fixing. unless its of sentimental value to you

Re: old boat

That is a neet looking boat but I think you go upside down pretty quick on it, if you wanted to keep and run it for a couple years you would get some of your money back but don't think you could cover it all, I would have to assume it needs stringers and the whole 9 yards.

And as Smoke said you have the headache of trying to register it so probably not but it is a cool old boat, maybe put potplants in it, I mean potted plants

Looks like 'glass to me, mostly the last pic.

And sitting in the dirt, no trailer. Full of leaves and debris.......rot city.

Yea, do the compression, spark, fuel thing on the engine, and scrap the rest.

I see a spotlight, and some kind of trim piece on the bow that might be bound for flea-bay......

;)

The whole set up and I checked the motor out and it has
good compression and even got it started late last night.
I would really like to fix the boat up but I think im going
To take the advice and take it to the dump I can atleast make my money back on the motor
