I just started getting into buying and repairing old Johnson motors. Actually, my grandpa used to work on one of the "original?" johnson motor plants In Waukegan IL making or creating the motors. Unfortunately, he has past away. I have grown to be interested in reparing old motors and just bought my first old motor. see ebay link below. It is a Johnson Seahorse 5 HP Motor,Model TN 5.0 OBC HP,Made In Canada. I didn't know that they make Johnson motors in Canada. I do not know the year, if it runs at all, or anything. DOes anyone have any tips for a beginner in Johnson motor restoration? I would definitely appreciate it. I bought the motor for $32.00...I wondr why it was so cheap? perhaps, because made in Canada? Thanks for all your help.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2191446939&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAB: MT:6

Re: Old? 5HP Johnson Motor Questions

Thanks for the quuick response! Hopefully, I can get the think up and running and repainted. I am glad tgo hear that there are still parts out there for this particular motor. I had a fear since it was made in Canada that many of the parts are hard to get a hold of. Where is the best place to look for parts for this type of motor and others alike?
