Old 40 4hp mercury won’t start

I have spark and compression put new gas new fuel line still won’t start any help would be appreciated.

It may jump a gap on the sparkplug laying on the block.----That does not mean it fires when air is compressed to 80 PSI in the cylinder.----Do this simple test.----Put 6 or 7 drops of fuel the sparkplug hole.----Install plug.----Try and start motor.----Report what happens..----
