I think that my trailer is ready to make the road trip to TX ( 340 miles one way). I bought 2 new ST175/80/D13 tires today, fixed all the lights, greased the wheel bearings, greased the jack, and greased the coupler. Am I forgetting anything?

...the safety chains, tire pressure, brakes (if it has them), condition of the cover and straps, jack and tire iron for trailer.

An INFLATED spare tire to be exact! (BTDT)

Seriously, here's a list I think I cobbled together from various advice on this forum, I don't think it adds anything to what you've done or others have suggested, but here goes anyway:

Trailer maintenance

Tire pressure. Set (cold) to max tire rating.

Check wheel lug nut torque (every 500 miles)

Bearings. Repack once per season (fall) and maintain bearing buddies.

Check all bolts for tightness (seasonal-fall).

Check coupler and chains.

Check operation of ALL trailer lights before each trip. Carry spare trailer light bulbs and a few small sections of wire with the appropriate connectors, etc.

Check the spare tire.

Remove the lug nuts every other year or so. That way you won't have a flat on the road and find that they are so rusted on you can't remove them. Use anti-sieze.

Make sure the ball and coupler have some grease on them.

Make sure you have a jack and lug wrench that will work with trailer.

Check all tie-down and winch straps, safety chains, and cables.

While enroute, check wheel hubs for excessive heat every time you stop to make sure they're not over heating.

Make sure you have a jack to lift the trailer, lug wrench, wheel chock (or a block), small grease gun w/ marine grade grease. Also handy is a set of bearings. You never know where they'll go bad. Tools: Channel Locks, needle nose, and the other basics. I also carry a reflector triangle. Problems can occur into and after dark. I know it is a bunch, but it does make problems a bit easier to deal with when away from home. Have a great trip. Its just a matter of degrees from being up on your luck to down on your knees!

My vote goes with carry extra tools and grease with you.

Seems like you have checked it all.

Bob
