How does he get it to plunge like that?! I detected him looking at something by the throttle..., but I can't quite seem to figure out the mechanics...

I think this is what he was trying to do but went a wee bit too far back on the throttle and found reverse. I bet his new nickname is "Capt. Nemo".

It sure looks like he's hitting reverse, maybe as he's turning a little also.

i'd almost say his anchor dropped, but the reverse looks more like it, i've seen people do that on a seadoo, and well ended up belly up

You can see the wake he is crossing and then it kicks up the stern and skiboats dont really have much freeboard

I saw a jet boat test many years ago that did that when the driver did an "emergency (reverse) stop". The bow dipped in hard and momentarily submerged the boat just like that one did. It stopped on a dime but seemed a little dangerous in practice.
