I have a 2000 Four Winns with 305 GI and SX out drive. These posts have been very helpful but still having alarm and gauge problems.I have checked oil pressure with oil pressure tests gauge. Readings were 52 psi at a 1000 rpm. Changed sending unit out, and everything seemed fine. Today at the lake the alarm started sounding again. Very frustrating. Does anyone know if I'm missing a sensor or an electrical problem. I'm running 20w50 synthetic and the level is good on the dip stick. Has anyone had problems with VDO insturment cluster? What should I check next?

Ayuh,... Was the gauge reading Correctly,..??

The Alarm works of a seperate Switch,.... Not the gauge Sender.....

Yes I will try it again. I did use a Mechanical gauge and run it up to temp.Seem to be intermintent problem. Pressure stayed around 50 psi in the driveway but alarm sounding on lake today. Can I hook up the mechanical gauge in line with the sending unit or is there another place to install?
thanks

Ayuh,... You can "T" it right at the block,+ mount the mechanical gauge right to the motor....

with 305 GI

Ayuh,... It's a SBC,...
There's an Oil Pressure Port right beside the distributer on the block, right close to the intake manifold,...
And,...
Another down low on the block, portside, just ahead of the oil filter boss.....

I donno which ports Volvo uses, but there's Only the 2....

Like I said,... Gauge uses a Sender, the Alarm uses a Switch....Unless Volvo has some Better Idea,..??

Yes single wire on sending unit next to distributer and another quick connect down low on the block. not sure which one sets the alarm off. Do you think Volvo is using one for the gauge and the other for the alarm?

Ayuh,... That's what i'm saying,.... 3 times I believe....

Turn the Key on,.. take the wire off either 1 of them,+ Ground it out.....
Is the gauge Pegged, or the alarm Screaming,..??
