My Mariner has been getting too much oil while idling looking for fish or trolling. When I get ready to leave and come out of the hole it just bogs down. I have to put it in neutral, raise the throttle up for about 10 seconds(lots of smoke)back in forward and it will come out of the hole. When I am up on top it runs great . No problems. This has been going on for a good while now .Very frustrating .My question is, can I un hook the oil injection and just add the oil to the fuel tank to make sure it is getting the correct oil mix to stop this loading problem? Will this hurt anything IT has been to 2 Mercury mechanics and they cannot adjust it to make it quit loading up on me. Many Thanks to all.

check tha mechanical pump... hole or torn diaphragm maybe.. probably needs a kit ............ could be an idle timin' issue also but if so they should have found it...

Find a different tech, you need to look at the bleed system and filter, possible injector problems or seal on oil pump. The oil is mixed in the VST tank not injected so its already premixed.

I am plenty mechanically inclined but have never rebuilt the oil pump on this motor.I will need to see a breakdown pic of how it is put together.Need to search for a kit as well unless others have seen this problem?
I just wanted to go old style and add the oil to the tank and go around the pump if I could?

I have seen the oil seal back off and leak oil around shaft fouling the middle cylinders..
